AAPA Victoria is an approved Flight Training Organisation (FTO) by the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) to conduct High Performance Aircraft Training (HPAT).
Our CAAC approved HPAT course prepares pilots to transition to high performance aircraft, after completing CPL and IR training, in our modern Beechcraft C90 GTi glass cockpit aircraft (see Training Fleet for more details).
The course of theory and flight training comprises;
- 134 hours of classroom training covering Airline Operations, High Altitude Operation, King Air C90 Aircraft Knowledge and Multi Crew Cooperation
- 20 hours of aircraft flight training including instrument approaches, STAR’s and SID’s, as well as visual and circling approaches to encourage and build confidence in aircraft handling
- An introduction into multi-crew operations with instruction in flight on the roles of Pilot Flying and Pilot Not Flying / Pilot Monitoring
- Instruction on flight planning requirements and considerations for long range flights at flight levels and the various requirements of flights in both controlled and uncontrolled airspace
- Initial training in advanced aircraft systems including turbine engines, pressurisation, TCAS and weather radar and the considerations required of handling a high performance aircraft with a TAS of over 270Kts and a service ceiling of 25000’.
- Practical experience in the use of advanced Pro Line 21 avionics which includes a Flight Management System, Flight Director and Auto Pilot. Instructors also teach the importance of ‘Mode Awareness’ and the importance of Standard Operating Procedures and Crew Co-Ordination in a highly automated flight deck
- Navigation routes are designed to expose students to longer sectors where the pilot looks at the most efficient way of conducting the flight, as well as short sectors with multiple instrument approaches which develops and re-inforces the importance of ‘workload management’
- Instructors with significant airline experience including time on Boeing and Airbus jet aircraft.
- Standard operating procedures can be modified to suit the operator.
On completion of the course, students will receive a HPAT training certificate and the confidence to move in to airline specific type rating training.
