Why AAPA - Australian Airline Pilot Academy

The Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA) Private Pilot Licence (PPL) is a CASA approved full time intensive-course where students are immersed at our state-of-the-art aviation campus located in Wagga Wagga, NSW, just a few minutes walk from the airport.

With access to modern Piper single-engine aircraft fitted with the latest in digital avionics and full-glass-cockpit instrumentation, including Garmin 430, students are primed for the use of the modern flight systems found in Commercial Aviation and Regular Public Transport (RPT) operations. Students also undergo training in the CASA approved Elite IGate S623 Flight Simulators.

The purpose-built campus boasts on-site accommodation for students with all meals prepared daily by our fully qualified chefs at the dining hall, access to Wi-Fi, 25m swimming pool, gymnasium and a library stocked with the latest air-training materials and manuals; everything a student needs to succeed in their studies.

The Cadet Programme Management System (CPMS) has been uniquely designed to include the facility of the upload the students’ assessments. This allows for continuous monitoring by the students (and clients) & instructors to ensure their success.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

A minimum age of 17 years on commencement of training
CASA Class 2 Medical Certificate
Capable of reading, writing and speaking the English Language
Undergo & pass Aviation Security Checks for the Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC)

Course Duration:

*13 weeks

*The duration of the course may increase due to weather and student’s performance.

42.8 hours dual in Piper Warrior 28
11 hours solo in Piper Warrior 28
1 hours simulator training
1 CASA PPL theory examination
1 CASA Flight test
Individual private room with communal bathroom facilities
Textbooks required to complete the course

3 Meals per day - breakfast, lunch and dinner
